Rebecca Williams - student profile

"I'm currently in my final year of the BSc (Hons) Robotics course, having transferred onto the course from the BSc (Hons) Electronics and Electrical Engineering degree at the end of my first year.

Prospective students should consider applying for the robotics course because it allows you to learn about the many ways in which robots are implemented into the world. You get to learn how to program a robot to do what you want and you also have the opportunity to design and build your own robot. Students get to interact with different robots in most modules.

This course has helped me to develop my communication skills, my time keeping and my report writing. Most pieces of coursework have a deadline and require a technical report to accompany your demonstration or code. I also took up the opportunity of a placement year where I worked for the Ministry of Defence, mainly performing data analysis and design experiments.

I think Plymouth is a great place to study as it is a campus university that is situated in the centre of the city. There are plenty of halls within walking distance, so getting to and from university is easy. There’s a great night life which is right next to the University and the local shopping centre frequently has student nights where they offer extra discounts and late-night shopping."
