BSc (Hons) Optometry: Madeline Hocking
"The best thing about the BSc (Hons) Optometry course at Plymouth is that there's a brand new clinic with the latest equipment and a number of professional supervisors who ensure we get the best teaching possible. There's a small year group of 30 students so we get lots of practice and time with our lecturers. In Years 1 and 2 we learn all the theory and in Year 3 we are working in the clinic four days a week performing sight tests, contact lens tests, dispensing, low vision clinics and BV clinics.

My favourite thing about the course is the small classes. There is always time to ask questions and get extra help as there are not too many of us.

I love Plymouth as a city, it has great shops, bars, clubs and the sea. I have always felt safe here and despite the weather would recommend the South West to anybody!

My photo is from the Centre for Eyecare Excellence (CEE) clinic when we tested the Plymouth Raiders basketball team."
