"I’ve chosen this particular course because it was offering a variety of subjects to study. When I was applying to study higher education I wanted a course that gave me lots of freedom. My main interest was to study camera operation but in the second year I took up animation as well to broaden my skills. The range of modules that are available from photography to filming, lighting and editing makes it easier to learn step by step a variety of different skills that are needed in the media industry.
The University of Plymouth has a lot of links with outside workplaces and artists that students can make
connections with. I’ve done a work placement with Twofour Group, had interviews
with BBC evening news readers and worked closely with Silverstream TV. There
are many more opportunities that are coming up every day that help us as
students to make these connections with people in the industry."
