  • Year 1

  • Core modules

    • Beyond Human (SCH5523)

      This module ranges through contemplation of species, diversity, human consciousness, the more than human, trophic cascades, resilient adaptive systems, ecological balance, symbiosis, the expanded self, interspecies dialogue, the unmarked, ecocide, and empathy. It asks what is human without a notion of separateness. It considers how these enquiries can reflect into changemaking and networked learning

  • Year 2

  • Core modules

    • Trajectories (SCH5524)

      This module focuses on research and development for the student’s ongoing creative practice. It includes research skills development and the preparation of a detailed proposal for SCH5525 or a business plan for PgDip students.

    • MA Major Project or Dissertation (SCH5525)

      Students will devise and negotiate an appropriate personal project, demonstrating their practical and theoretical practice. Through a process of negotiated project proposal, outcomes will be agreed and can take the form of a 15,000 word dissertation interrogating arts and ecology, or a creative project in the public domain, or a combination of both (50/50).Outputs from the module will evidence the depth of development and synthesis of knowledge from the programme.

    • MFA Professional Project (SCH5526)

      Students research, devise and develop projects with national or international organisations, which may result in working independently or at distance. Culmination of the module is the production of a substantial and resolved creative outcome that will be presented in an appropriate public arena. Emphasis is placed upon independence, originality, initiative and enterprise.

Entry requirements

UK/EU

A relevant degree with honours or an equivalent professional qualification. Other qualifications accompanied by substantial experience in an appropriate field may also be considered. Non-standard applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

International

International applicants will be required to provide evidence of their English language ability, for example by achieving an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each element) or equivalent, see our English language requirements. Pre-sessional English language courses are available if you do not meet these requirements.
