Within a year of graduating Justin Floyd set up his company SolidWool. He makes a unique composite material that’s similar to fibreglass, but made with wool and eco-friendly bio resin. He then handcrafts sustainable furniture from this material.
“The programme structure helped me to develop as a designer with strong ethical and sustainability concerns. The flexible approach to the early modules allows you to experiment, developing your design skills and delivering in-depth design practice. The mix of theory and practice is perfect. You’re learning about the current concerns of the design world while developing your practical skills.
The programme also gave me the confidence to start up my own company. The design and business module concentrates on design’s relationship to business which proved useful in establishing my USP.”
