Plymouth Albion RFC

Our partnership with Plymouth Albion RFC has benefited the club, the University and our students in many ways.

Charity and the community

Working together to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence at our University, we're enabling crucial research to take place here in Plymouth. Albion proudly places a tile on the Wall of Hope at our John Bull Building recognising their fundraising achievements in support or our world-class research.

Taking care of the players

For a number of years Albion players gum shields have been professionally fitted and made by our School of Dentistry, and their eyes are tested by optometry students in our Centre for Eyecare Excellence, giving you the chance to practice your skills on professional sports people and helping the players stay fit and healthy.

Sports training facilities

Our UPSU rugby club men's and women's team, sometimes have the opportunity to train at Albion's Brickfields ground where the annual Varsity rugby is traditionally played. A fantastic opportunity to get scouted if you're looking to take your sporting endeavours to the next level.

You could even follow in the footsteps of Charlotte Notman, our BA (Hons) Photography student who was selected to represent Great Britain at the Rugby World Championships in 2014.

Student experience: Sporting excellence scholar

I was awarded a rugby Sporting Excellence Scholarship with University of Plymouth enabling me to continue to focus on my studies while I played sport at a high, competitive level.
