Devon Junior and Minor Football League

Community

Devon Junior and Minor Football League engage with people of all ages and abilities to encourage participation in football, as this is the league’s priority. Bringing football into the city is a great way of interacting with young visitors and the league do just that on Lord Mayor's Day, and through their annual Football on the Piazza event – supported by Plymouth's Event Management students and volunteers.

Charity

The budding Beckhams from the Devon Junior and Minor Football League are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research at every league event, showing brain tumours the red card. All funds raised will support world leading research into benign tumours (before they become cancerous) happening here at our University.

Wear a Hat Day for Brain Tumour Research 2016

With thanks to Devon FA

A team of staff and volunteers from Devon FA took part in the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest 10k obstacle race in October 2015, managing to raise an incredible total of £2,740 for Brain Tumour Research. On Wear a Hat Day we celebrated as they placed their tile on the Wall of Hope, representing a full day of research.

The money they raised will ensure teams such as the Plymouth University Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence can continue working towards a cure for brain tumours, the biggest cancer killer of people under 40.
