Academic Partnerships Operations

The key element of the Academic Partnerships (AP) strategy is to grow and focus partnership delivery to expand income diversification and contribution to the University’s sustainability. This includes identifying and building new academic partnerships that align with (the 2030) this strategy. 

Particular emphasis will focus on:

  • Growth of transnational education (TNE) through existing and emerging partnerships
  • Ensuring maximum mutual benefit from regional Further Education Partnerships
  • Maintaining effective engagement and transparency in the relationships between Academic Partnerships Faculties and Schools enhancing academic and portfolios for the University alongside student experience
  • Supporting the University’s ambitions for international recruitment with additional emphasis on in-country English testing and pre-sessional English courses

The AP Operations Team work within four divisions to facilitate these objectives

Data & Enrolments Division

Responsible for all data and enrolments for Academic Partnerships:

  • Creating records for new students and updating returning students’ records
  • Linking enrolment details, processing withdrawals, interruptions and transfers on students’ records
  • Upkeep and accuracy for legal name changes, minor corrections, address updates and module changes
  • Liaison with TIS to create user accounts and solve access issues on Moodle
  • Liaison with UoP Card Office
  • Undertake Data quality checks
  • Liaison, registering HND and HNC enrolments and updating records on Pearson interface (reflecting withdrawals, interruptions, transfers and completions)

Directorate Office

Responsible for all travel, finance, HR, governance and support for the Directorate:

  • Arrange all travel and visas for all Academic Partnership staff
  • Conduct all finance for Academic Partnerships ensuring compliance
  • Process payments for Academic Partnership External Examiners including honorariums and expenses
  • Co-ordinate the partner graduation ceremonies, staff attendance and prizes
  • Operate governance for the Directorate overseeing GPDR asset register, and the Academic Cooperation Agreements with partners
  • Process all HR staffing issues including training and PDRs
  • Responsible for partner communications, including updating websites, internal systems, and liaising with External Relations
  • Support to senior and academic staff and the Academic Partnership Directorate

Programmes & Partnerships Division

Responsible for all partnership programmes:

  • Student handbook checks
  • Programme Approvals - stage one document checks
  • Minor and major changes
  • Appeals and complaints
  • RUTs and staff changes
  • Liaison with partners for JBS and Planning and Review dates
  • Extenuating Circumstances claims
  • Academic offences
  • Curriculum maintenance
  • External examiners including nominations and reports
  • Subject Assessment Panels and Award Assessment Boards and reconciliation, processing and calculation of marks
  • University’s Academic Development and Partnerships Committee

We provide a 'one-stop shop' for everything concerning transnational education across the University of Plymouth. This includes articulation agreements, student and staff mobility programmes, Summer Schools and the English Language Centre.
