GOSS Interactive Ltd is a leading supplier of websites, hosting and web content management solutions (CMS) to clients from the public and private sectors. GOSS identified an opportunity to develop and improve their existing web CMS software to enhance keyword search results for web browsing. Realising they lacked the necessary expertise in this field, they partnered with University of Plymouth's academic experts.
As a result of this KTP project, GOSS has significantly increased its knowledge leading to the commercialisation of a new software component, iSuggest, 12 months earlier than expected and more importantly ahead of competitors. As a result of this new software component, GOSS has seen a 20 per cent increase in sales turnover, mainly due to the increased functionality of the GOSS iCM product. The second, more advanced, tool will position GOSS as a market-leading, innovative technology company in the content management and retrieval field.
The KTP employed Dr Rohana Rajapaske to the post of KTP Associate. This KTP saw Rohana take a key role in progressing the project through each stage ahead of schedule. This not only increased the depth of the project and enhancement of the work, but also led to Rohana gaining valuable management and leadership skills, further technical training and permanent employment as Senior Developer with the company.
"We excel in delivering true return on investment for our clients as well as ourselves. Robert McCarthy, Managing Director, GOSS Interactive Ltd
"This project has been a fantastic example of how Plymouth University’s expertise can contribute to the local business community. We now have a long-term relationship with GOSS with them providing opportunities for student placements and graduate recruitment, which means we are retaining locally developed knowledge in the region."
Professor Andy Phippen, Plymouth Business School
