Important information applicable to all donations by text

Bill payer's permission: You must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text donation to us. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to send a text donation to us.

Charges: Charges will appear on your next mobile phone bill or be deducted from your pay-as-you-go credit.

Please enter the keywords and short codes correctly. If you text after the closing date for a specific appeal/campaign, or if the keyword or shortcode you text are incorrect, you will not make a donation but you may still be charged a message at your standard network rate. No refunds will be provided for the cost of any text made, or for any misdialled short codes or misspelled keywords.

Being contacted by us: By donating by text, you agree that Plymouth University may contact you (by phone, text message, email and/or post) in the future about our work, how you can help and talk to you about the Gift Aid scheme. If you'd rather we didn't get in touch, please call us on 01752 588020 or reply with a "NOCALL" text.

Gift Aid: Your donation may be eligible for Gift Aid. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can reclaim the tax you have paid on any charitable gift, as long as you have paid the equivalent amount of tax to the amount being reclaimed. This means we can claim an extra 25 pence for every eligible £1 donated, at no extra cost to you. We will send you a link to an online form after you have made a donation which gives you the opportunity to add Gift Aid to your donation. Please note that, as with any mobile browsing, you may incur charges from your network provider in viewing and submitting the Gift Aid form online.

UK mobiles only: Please note that you can donate from a UK mobile number only. You may incur additional network charges if you donate using this service from a UK mobile outside of the UK.

Donation limit: There is no limit on the number of times you may make a donation via text but there is a daily limit of £30 on text donations. You will not be able to donate more by text from the same number on the same day, but you may still incur your standard network message charge if you try.

Liability: Plymouth University does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure, malfunction, congestion, capacity issues or any other problem with any telephone, telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any text being lost, delayed or not properly received and recorded.

Your personal data: Your personal data will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will only be used to process your donation(s), marketing purposes and to keep you informed about our fundraising, activities, events and services. We will not share your information with any third party organisations (other than the SMS service provider) except where such transfer is a necessary part of our activities, or we are required to do so by operation of law.
