The strategic aims of the medical school are to provide outstanding clinical education, strong social engagement and world-class research. The research core is known as the Institute of Translational and Stratified Medicine (ITSMED) with core research themes in cancer, clinical neuroscience and infection, immunity and inflammation, and cross-cutting research themes including diagnostics, clinical trials and public health. Trainees have access to a broad range of expertise at the medical and dental schools including research design service, Pen CTU, medical statistics group and BRIC.
ACFs and CLs are able to arrange projects in any of the above areas and are encouraged to meet PIs and develop project ideas that can be taken forward.
