2007-2010 Factors associated with clinical focus in NHS Trust Boards: Research Fellow, working with Ruth Endacott, Ray Jones and Rod Sheaff on this project funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing 2007-2008 Coordination of evidence for National Service Framework for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Working for the Department of Health. 2000-2005 PhD programme: Nursing research in the National Health Service: activity, strategies and organisational models The development of nursing research strategies in the NHS, completed November 2005 The first phase involved developing a nursing research strategy for one NHS trust. The second phase was a survey of all NHS trusts in one region looking at their nursing research strategies. The third phase involved an organisational case-study approach to investigate the effectiveness of nursing research strategies within five NHS trusts. 2003-2004 The role of the Nurse Consultant. Research undertaken to examine the developing role of nurse consultants 2001 Womens' anxieties surrounding breast disorders. A systematic review of the literature 1996 The effectiveness of postal reminders on attendance levels in a nurse-run asthma clinic Research to evaluate the effectiveness of reminders in reducing non-attendance in a nurse-led asthma clinic. Outcome: all chronic disease management clinics introduced postal reminders sent out 1 week prior to the appointment. 1995 Non-attendance in a nurse-led asthma clinic (MSc dissertation). This study examined the reasons for non-attendance in a primary care asthma clinic. Survey, 168 participants. 1993 Management of asthma in schools A survey was undertaken of the management of asthma in local schools in conjunction with practice nurse colleagues in Devon and Cornwall. Results showed inconsistent management and poor practices with regard to children needing medication at school. Results presented locally, and used to inform local policy and practice within the schools.
