Research interests
My research background so far has been largely quantitative and I would like to grow in the area of qualitative & multi method design. I am interested primarily in areas of mental health such as psychosocial interventions with mental illness. I am now involved in a qualitative study in India which tries to look at temple based indigenous treatment. I would also like to see myself develop in the areas of marital life research & to understand interpersonal dynamics such as cohesion, adjustment, violence etc. My involvement in this area so far has been looking mostly at alcohol complicated families-an area in which I have done substantial work-in terms of understanding violence, conflict resolution, personality profiles of the spouse & areas of marital adjustment. I am also keen to be involved in understanding Quality of life issues in different populations. I am interested in developing my methodological skills to develop quantitative instruments in areas like social integration, xenophobia, communal bonding etc.

4 Ph.D's awarded under individual supervision
