PhD Thesis: The long-term effects of Sargassum muticum invasion on Zostera marina and its associated epibiota

My scientific research interests focus on seagrass ecology, catchment management, and human impacts on coastal ecosystems (including invasion biology, shallow water ecology, and threatened aquatic systems). In addition, I engage in interdisciplinary pedagogic research that explores ways to further facilitate student engagement and learning within the marine biology degree programmes.

Grants & contracts

  • Pedagogic Research & Teaching Innovation Award -- March 2017. Project title: An exploration of how creative collaboration might be developed within Higher Education settings.
  • SoMSE Small Research Grant Award (£2500) in collaboration with Jasper Graham-Jones (Mech Eng) and Matt Brown (Plymouth University Diving Officer) (“Reducing scour impacts: The design and development of an eco-friendly fixed mooring”)
  • School of Marine Science & Engineering Teaching & Learning Award (£4254.75) for “Introducing employment-related problem-based learning (PBL) into Marine Biology modules”.
