At the moment I am working on a project entitled 'Germany's Forgotten War', looking at WW1 in the German colony of Tsingtau (China) with special focus on the German POW in Japan during the First World War. Research findings have been presented at the International Asian Arts and Humanities Conference in Osaka/Japan (2010) and the German Historical Institute's Annual Conference in Oakland/USA (2010).  I am working on several journal articles and a monograph on this topic.

In addition, I am also interested in other German Pacific colonies and WW1. I am also planning a future research project on the politics of Third Reich Fashion. In the past, I have worked on European integration and European identity
