Role


Web Editor for Plymouth University.  

Current projects include:

  • Collecting feedback and building on ideas for the development of a new structure for the external website and underlying Content Management System (CMS), allowing for easier navigation and editing of the site 
  • Building of further linkages with the University's website and others, including social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, iTunes U, YouTube, Flickr, Pinterest 
  • Moving existing web content and creating new areas in structured information streams to allow for meaningful navigation within new technology
  • Editing of corporate level sections of the website to bring them in line with new navigation streams and new University branding (this is ongoing from March 2011 and the site will be updated section by section over the next few months)

Before taking on this role I was Research Information Officer in Research and Innovation, involving development and maintenance of Research Information Systems (including the Research Directory, central research and business services pages on web), dissemination of research-related information, maintenance of the Research and Innovation Community on the Staffnet and electronic submission of research proposals to Research Councils and other funders. 

 

Qualifications & background


BA(Hons) Ancient History, Cardiff University

Web Editor for the University of Plymouth since October 2006.  Joined the Research Support Unit (now part of Research and Innovation) at Plymouth in September 2001, after working in Further and Higher Education administration at the Welsh Funding Councils (FEFCW), University of Westminster (undergraduate programmes administration) and University of Wales College of Medicine (co-ordination of RAE 2001 submission).
