Research interests
My research interests span physiology, biochemistry, ecology, systems ecophysiology and taxonomy, with specific focus on members of the Bacteria and Archaea. I have particular interests in organisms involved in the aerobic sulfur , metal and metalloid biogeochemical cycles in addition to organisms that degrade "C1 " compounds (those that contain no carbon-carbon bonds, such as methane, methanol and dimethylsulfide ). My more applied interests concern biomining , bioleaching, bioprecipitation and remediation, with particular focus on lanthanide and actinide metals and toxic organic pollutants such as methylated phosphorus compounds and phenolics .
