Role
Paul is a lecturer in Police Studies within the Criminology and Criminal Justice Team in the Plymouth Law School. He teaches the new Police, Law and Community Module which is offered as a Stage 3 Elective. This module has been developed by the University of Portsmouth and Surrey Police to provide the law knowledge required by a police officer, it gives the opportunity for students to gain a certificate of completion which is recognised by some Police Forces and is a mandatory pre-join qualification in others.  

Qualifications & background
Prior to his appointment in 2009, Paul completed 30 years service in the Devon and Cornwall Police. Inspired by his passion for developing others his previous career path included managing the Induction Team at Police Headquarters and being involved in Truama Management supporting front-line colleagues.
In his role as lecturer Paul has been using his police contacts to provide volunteering and other work experience opportunites, including 'Insight Patrols' , in which students join local officers on patrol within the City Centre.
