I have taught with the Open University on a number of Technology courses - the first course being in 1985. With the help of a Daphne Jackson Women Returners' Fellowship, funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, I was able to restart my career as a Research Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol, undertaking projects for industry and the Ministry of Defence. I have worked as a Senior Lecturer and researcher at the University of Brighton and as a Research Associate at the University of Southampton in the Materials Research Group.
