M.Sc. The Geography of Urban and Regional Planning, 1976. Birkbeck College, University of London.

Ph.D. Transport Studies, 1984. Transport Studies Group, University College London. Accessibility to employment for different groups of the workforce in Greater London.


Work experience:


1969-1979: Schoolteacher and Head of Geography with the Inner London Education Authority and the London Borough of Brent.

1983-1986: Research assistant at the Transport Studies Group, University College London.

1986-the present: Independent researcher on a range of subjects, especially covering transport planning, tourism and sustainability, disaster management and issues of environment and development in the developing world.

 

Professional membership

None.


Membership of many organisations researching and campaigning on issues of transport, tourism, environment and development, but none of them would be called professional.

1. New forms of tourism and their association with notions of sustainability.

2. The broad field of issues of environment and development in the developing world, specialising in the region of Central America.

3. Development aid projects.

4. Disaster management.

5. Issues of transport planning.
6. The application of sustainability indicators.
