Role
Head of Employability, University of Plymouth
My role includes providing institutional leadership on employability, including management of the Careers & Employability Service, development of student enterprise and managing university and regional graduate employability projects. The focus for our Careers Service is on providing learning opportunities to students in the curriculum, supported by employer events, competitions and individual advice and career guidance available through our high profile employability centre, Gateway.
Project Director, Gradsouthwest
Gradsouthwest is a regional vacancy service which we manage from the University of Plymouth on behalf of all of the higher education institutions in the South West of England. I co-founded Gradsouthwest in 2002 and it is now one of the UK's leading regional graduate vacancy services.
Director, Trufflehog
Trufflehog is a social enterprise which I have set up to publish children's books as an experiential learning opportunity for university students and recent graduates, while also providing aspiration raising opportunities for school pupils. Working with a project manager from Groundwork South West and an established children's author Helen Greathead, we published our first book, 'We Love Looe' in May 2010 and are working on a second book about the Tamar Valley Railway to be published in May 2011. Each book is funded by sponsorship with additional revenues from book sales.

I was elected to the Board of AGCAS in July 2010. In this capacity I also sit on the Board of HECSU (Higher Education Careers Service Unit) and represent AGCAS at events, including with the Association of Graduate Recruiters. I am also an accredited AGCAS Trainer, delivering training on masters level professional development courses, and have worked on three AGCAS sub committees.
