Research interests
My interests are largely based around social inequality, group classification and research methodology. My previous research identified small-scale groups at risk of health inequality and exclusion through an examination of key datasets such as the 2001 Census. Methodologically, I am interested in the epistemology and application of both qualitative and quantitative methods in the social sciences. My recent work has examined the possibility and desirability of ethnicity measurement in social surveys, and the emergent complex narratives uncovered by utilising rigorous mixed-method approaches.
