Teaching interests
Social theory, research methods including visual methods and computer assisted qualititive data analysis, and the sociology of tourism.  


Research interests

Tourism, socio-cultural change and global – local relations; the social construction of place; regeneration, cultural policy, art and the creative industries; internet use, identity and diasporas; history social memory and biography; tourism and embodiment; the use of new technologies as research methodology. These interests encompass both regional/national and international elements.

Kevin was one of the organisers for the Consumption and Representation Confernce held at the University in 1999. He was also a member of the organising committee for the 2004 British Sociological Associations’s annual conference at York, and was a member of the organising group of the International Tourism Research Committee for the 2006 International Sociological Association conference in Durban, South Africa. In 2007 he was also on the organising committee for the Association of Social Anthropologists annual conference Thinking Through Tourism held in London.
