Teaching interests

Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) and other ICT related teaching and learning materials and methods. Eg:

Assisted and participated in using Second Life as a VLE for undergraduate students learning Dramatic Writing, with Rebeccah Freeman (Arts) and Mark Pannell (EDaLT). Students used virtual landscapes and virtual props to act out short plays for which they had written themselves.
Involved in the development of a teaching material which utilised computer-aided learning (CAL). This was in collaboration with Professor Steve Rowland (Professor of Organic Geochemistry, SEOES) as part of the HEFCE Science Evaluation Enhancement and Dissemination (SEED; http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/projects/detail/projectfinder/projects/pf1684). The computer software we developed allows lecturers to design their own CAL teaching packages by completing a simple template using Visual Basic programming.

Also teaching and learning of science related programmes:

Lecturing experience extends to 1^st and 2^nd year undergraduates and MSc students in Environmental Science and Chemistry within the School of Earth, Ocean and Environmental Sciences (SEOES) (which includes both fieldwork and laboratory based sessions).
I have also provided lecturing support within the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) to 2^nd year undergraduate and MSc students, primarily in Food Quality Science (which includes laboratory based sessions).
