Joanne Paton![]() Mrs Joanne Paton
Role Qualifications & background
Graduating in1992, I obtained considerable clinical expertise as lead clinician in musculoskeletal podiatry within Cornwall NHS trust, where in 2002 I completed my MSc with distinction in Podiatric Biomechanics. I accepted a dual clinical-academic appointment with the NHS and University of Plymouth in 2002, before taking up my current position as podiatry lecturer. I have particular interest and have published in the field of biomechanics and the diabetic foot. I received my Doctorate from the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in 2008, having conducted a randomised control trial evaluating the effect of insoles used for ulcer prevention in diabetic neuropathic feet. In 2010 I was award a NIHR clinical lectureship; the focus of my future research explores the topic of falls and falls prevention for neuropathic individuals with diabetes. Professional membership Podiatric Biomechanics Group Society of Podiatrists Diabetes UK
