This project was proceeded by an eight day course on Auto/Biography (see below) which I developed and delivered. The project resulted in a report and accompanying book of poems:

This work was reviewed by the The Patient Experience Library https://www.patientlibrary.net/cgi-bin/library.cgi?vat=1493718750 thus:
Every week, the Patient Experience Library trawls hundreds of websites, searching out new publications to add to the UK's collective evidence on patient experience. We read thousands of reports every year. Most are good, some are excellent. This one, from Healthwatch Essex, is astonishing. The work is based on a series of interviews with people who have had to arrange residential care for a loved one. The interviews were transcribed and thematically analysed so as to draw out poems from people's experiences. See also the excellent main report, "Negotiating the Care Maze"

Since 2019 I have solo run a number of creative writing workshops for academics, and political activists, including at the International Conference of Autoethnography (ICAE), at the Universities of Plymouth and Greenwich, and the BSA Food Study Group Conference.

One participant at the 2021 ICAE conference said afterwards: ‘For one of the 10 minute exercises you gave us I wrote probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever written’.

One participant at the 2022 ICAE conference gave the following feedback: ‘I always think of writing as work, but this was a joy.’
