Qualifications & background
I studied Oceanography in Mexico at the UABC (Ensenada, BC) specialized on Coastal Processes from 1996 to 2000.
I did the Masters in Science in the SE part of Mexico, at ECOSUR- Chetumal, working with satellite imagery and changes along the coastal zone from 2002 to 2004, integrating in the analysis the socio-economical factors as drivers of the observed change.

The PhD on which I am currently working have as a first step the shoreline identification using SPOT images, then the quantification of the shoreline changes using images of several years and finally its interpretation taking into account the environmental factors. The study area is on Yucatan, QRoo. where every year there are effects of the hurricanes coming from the Atlantic basin, the Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico, causing abrupt changes in the wave behaviour and meteorological conditions. Moreover most of the coast of Yucatan is highly populated being affected by erosion problems.

Research interests
Study of shoreline changes
Remote sensing
Coastal Management

Other research
I keep working with colleagues in Mexico doing research related with groundwater detection using environmental indicators and satellite images.
