Teaching interests
Information Storage Engineering/Information Processing, Magneto-optics, Micro-magnetics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Magnetic Sensors.
Previous lecturing experience includes approximately 3000 hours lectures in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with an additional 7000 hours seminars, tutorials and laboratory/project work. Active in the planning and formation of proposals for the BEng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the MEng degree in Communication, Information and Electronic Engineering.

Research interests
Published 150 papers in International Research Journals, 10 patents, 72 industrial reports, 120 papers at International Conferences and 55 (mostly invited) papers at other conferences/meetings. Supervised 25 successful PhDs. Invited visiting Professor at the SONY Research Centre (Japan), EHIME University (Japan), University of California and the University of Alabama. Grant income (main applicant) is approximately £2.25 million plus £690,000 (second applicant) and £431,000 for facilities. Chaired sessions at international conferences including PMRC 2004, (Sendai) and JEMS 2004 (Dresden). Past Chairman of EPSRC Engineering Panel. Member of current EPSRC College. Research interest is magnetic information storage technology and magnetic sensors.
