Role

I am Subject Leader for Media Arts  which incorporates Media Arts, Contemporary Film Practice MA for which i am programme leader and TV Arts BA all located in the school of Art and Media in the Faculty of Arts.  I am part of the School Executive Management Committee.

Currently i sit on University of Plymouth Academic Board and as a representative on the Recruitment and Admissions Committee for the University.  I also act as Academic Liaison for a number of University Plymouth Colleges FDA courses.

Research interests

Doctoral thesis: 'Film and the Dartington Experience' looking at Dartington's history of work with film and its relationship to the Mythic status of Dartington. The work incorporates an experimental documentary video film and photographic works.

Having worked in film and video producing, editing and teaching for some years with a special interest in experimental and documentary work, I have recently developed work with photography and painting. As well as the qualities of particular media I am interested in time, space and the uncertainties that surround the particular in our perception.

Creative practice & artistic projects

Background in Coordinating Filmmakers' Workshop, Video Production, TV Documentary production, Video News and Features Editing.
Continuing interests include archive film regeneration and  projects exploring memory artifacts and imaging. This latter using photography and video. Current work investigating the potential paradigm shift in the cinematic experience afforded by 360 degree viewing experience.
