Research interests

  • The melting history of the Earth's mantle through Os isotope analysis of detrital Os-bearing alloys from river and beach sediments
  • The chemical and (Osmium) isotopic composition of mantle pyroxenites and their origin (Pindos Ophiolite, Totalp Massif)
  • Magmatic and tectonic processes at oceanic spreading centres through the study of oceanic peridotites (Macquarie Island, Othris & Pindos Ophiolites, Oman Ophiolite, etc.)
  • Physical and chemical characteristics of melt transport through the oceanic mantle
  • The origin of ophiolites - supra-subduction zone vs. mid-ocean ridge ophiolites
  • The development of tectonite and mylonite (micro-) structures in mantle peridotites
  • Accretionary orogenesis with emphasis on the Altaids Orogen in western Mongolia (also Dariv Ophiolite)
  • The composition and petrogenesis of Eucrite and Diogenite achondrite meteorites: magmatic processes on 4Vesta as a proxy for the earliest magmatic history of Earth
