Qualifications & background

I am currently a Scientific Officer in the Psychology Department and conducting research in to the relationship between actiion and vision for my PhD. I have degrees in Psychology and in Archaeology/Geography from the Universities of Exeter and the Open Univerity as well as an MSc in Psychology. In addition I have diploma in Clinical Hypnosis.* My first employment was as a Psychiatric Nurse where I became interested in post-neurosurgical behavioural changes. Later I was employed by the Civil Service as a Resettlement Officer working with people who were homeless, often with drug/alcohol problems. In addition I have been a Forensic Psychologist at Dartmoor Prison and also spent several years as Professional Development Officer at the Postgraduate Medical School at the University of Exeter.* I also work for the Open University as a tutor on an undergraduate course in Discovering Psychology and a Postgraduate module in Advanced Statistical Design and Analysis. My teaching further includes post registration nurses at the IHS.



 



Research interests

A wide but related range of interests including: Neuropsychology, especially of vision/action; Addiction; Complex systems thinking; Complementary Health; Human Origins including the history/prehistory of thought as portrayed through art, mathematics, relgious belief, philosophy and science.
