Welcome to schools and colleges and to Higher Education and careers advisers

These web pages are aimed at schools and colleges and Higher Education (HE) and careers advisers. If you are a prospective student, you should visit our web page for prospective students.

Plymouth University provides a wide range of work with schools and colleges especially within the South West peninsula. We offer information and support to HE and careers advisers and staff in schools and colleges and may be able to offer a one-off event or tailored programme of activities for your students. Click anywhere within each box below to find out more about the various work Plymouth University delivers to schools and colleges:

Schools and Colleges Liaison

The Schools and Colleges Liaison team at Plymouth University offers a variety of activities for staff and students in schools and colleges. The team predominately works with schools and colleges in the South West region and mainly with post-sixteen students.

Alongside the activities offered, such as campus visits and presentations on all aspects of Higher Education, the Schools and Colleges Liaison team organises the University open days in October and June, and also co-ordinates the central Confirmation and Clearing Hotline.

This team is always on hand to offer information and support to HE Advisers from schools and colleges that are not a Widening Participation target school or college.

Widening Participation

Widening Participation is a part of government education policy in the UK which aims to provide more information and interactive experiences about Higher Education (HE) to those from identified disadvantaged groups in order to raise aspirations and awareness.

Widening Participation actions aim to impact on disadvantage by increasing the participation of target groups in the community in HE, ensuring appropriate support for their HE experience and optimising their chances of success both in HE and on exit from HE. Plymouth University has a regional, national and international reputation for its work to date in Widening Participation and plans to build upon this reputation embracing complementary opportunities afforded through its ambitions to be the enterprise university. We provide schemes based on our University campus or outreach in schools, colleges, employer and community settings.

By visiting our web pages you can find out if your school is a Widening Participation target school that we work with, and find out about the identified groups we do further work with.

Subject specific work with schools and colleges

The University’s faculties - Arts, Education, Health, Science & Technology, Plymouth Business School, and the Peninsula Medical School also provide subject specific activities which may be of interest to your school or college. These activities can range from subject specific workshops on our University campus or at your school or college, to taster days on campus.

Please select this page to find out the contact details for each faculty.
