Applying for a postgraduate research degree

Considering applying

If you are considering applying for a PhD or an MPhil, please look at information about the research opportunities that we offer described in each subject area. These research opportunities refer to a research group or research centre and other students working on allied research projects. Each group welcomes a dialogue with students before they apply and identifies a contact person would would be keen to discuss any potential application with you.

Our Admissions Policy (Word document) for postgraduate research programmes can be referenced for more information and advice to applicants.

Where applicable, applicants should download and read additional notes of guidance for the Faculty of Arts, and also guidance notes for the EdD in the Faculty of Education (both Word documents).
