How to apply for our job vacancies

Enterprise waves

All of our vacancies have a closing date that is clearly marked on the advertisement and job description. Applications should be received within the Human Resources Department no later than 12 noon of that day unless otherwise specified.

Recruitment monitoring form

The University of Plymouth recognises the benefits of having a diverse community of staff and is fully committed, as an employer, to the delivery of its equality and diversity policies therefore in order to ensure that we are fair and consistent in our selection and monitoring procedures, we require applicants to complete this form which can be found at the beginning of the application form. The information provided is treated as Strictly Confidential and will only be used for Equality and Diversity monitoring purposes. It is not forwarded to the recruiting department and is not taken into consideration for shortlisting or interviewing purposes.

The university welcomes applications from disabled people and will make reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process and your work place.

Before you complete the application form

Please ensure that you have read thoroughly the job description, person specification and/or further details for the vacancy you have applied for.

Tips on how to complete your application

  • Please answer all questions on the application form, even if submitting supplementary documents
  • The post reference number must be completed correctly as failure to do so may cause delays and the possibility of your application missing the closing date.
  • When completing your relevant skills, knowledge and experience for the vacancy you have applied for highlight competencies relevant to that position.
  • Give examples of how you meet the criteria stated in the job description / person specification and these examples can be work or leisure based.
  • Applicants for Academic vacancies only should provide details of research publication and grants. They should also submit a CV.

Application forms can be downloaded into the following formats:

You may attach separate sheet(s) with your application if required.

The submission process

  • Forms (except those in Adobe format) can be saved and sent as an email attachment to jobs@plymouth.ac.uk or by post to the address at the top of the Employment Application Form
  • When emailing your completed application to us, please state the full job title and post reference number in the subject line

Interviews

  • If you are successful in being shortlisted for the vacancy we will contact you by letter, although in some instances where the interview date has already been set and timescales are tight, we may contact you by email.
  • The recruitment process can take up to 5 weeks, and for some positions longer, however if you have not heard anything within 5 weeks from the closing date of the post, it is likely that your application has been unsuccessful. Please do not hesitate to contact Recruitment Services for confirmation.
  • For applicants from outside of the UK, who are unable to travel at short notice to attend an interview, alternative arrangements can be made.

If you have any questions relating to the recruitment process, please contact Recruitment Services via email:
