To participate in our live webcasts you will need to open two Internet browser windows, one for the live presentation (‘the live video stream’) and another for the relevant discussion forum or chat room. This may or may not be password protected depending on the event. To receive the video stream you will need either a PC running Windows Media player or something compatible on your operating system. MAC users could download Flip4MAC. For more information or to check the suitability of your computer and Internet connection to receive the live video stream click on http://ehealth.chiirup.org.uk/webcast_test.html. You may wish to do this the day before! All webcasts take place at UK Standard Time. If you are viewing the webcast outside of the UK then you may wish to check the time using the World Clock Meeting Planner (external website). Using online methods to engage service users, students, and professionals.Thursday January 12/1/12 at 12pm Plymouth University has been running online discussion programmes on e-health in which service users and health professionals have been able to discuss in discussion forums the pros and cons, and barriers to implementing e-health methods for various groups. (More information about this project is available at www.stakeholdersonline.org.uk ). In this online session on Thursday 12th January we will briefly describe our experience of this approach using the example of mental health. We will also use the session to trial the use of Twitter ‘break out rooms’ (nests?!) for discussion between participants and to discuss the pros and cons of various methods to engage users, students and professionals online, including discussion forums, email listserves, chat rooms, Facebook, and Twitter. The session is open to anyone. You will need a PC that plays sound and is able to run Windows Media Player to receive the videostream.
