The University of Plymouth’s Nancy Astor Sports Centre on the University of Plymouth Campus comprises of the following sports facilities:-

Multi Purpose Sports Hall
The 4 court size Sports Hall caters for a range of indoor sports. The following list shows the range of activities that can be played in the Sports Hall:-
- Badminton
- Basketball

- Netball
- Table Tennis
- Five a Side Football
- Short Tennis
Fitness Suite

The University's new Fitness Suite, comprises of the latest cardio vascular and weight resistance equipment. The 50 station fitness suite is the perfect place to enjoy a workout and meet your friends. The Fitness Suite comprises of:
- Cardio Vascular Exercise Machines
- Weight Resistance Training Equipment
- Lifting Platform
- Selection of Free Weights
Using the Fitness Suite
There is no need to book in advance to use the Fitness Suite. Before using the fitness suite for the first time, it is necessary to have an induction. The induction will take about half an hour and will show you how to use all of the fitness equipment correctly and safely. You can sign up for a fitness suite induction, at the Nancy Astor Sports Centre Reception Desk. Once the induction has been completed, you will be issued with a membership card which you must produce at Reception to gain entry.
Personal Fitness Programmes and Fitness Testing
If you want some guidance on your training, or you have a specific goal you want to achieve, book in for a personal fitness programme with one of our qualified fitness instructors. These are designed to your specific requirements. Costs start from £12 for students.
If you are not sure where to start with your training, or you want to know how fit you are, book in for a fitness test. A fitness test consists of:-
- Height
- Weight
- Body Fat
- Blood Pressure
- Flexibility
- Cardiovascular Test
Sports Centre Booking Procedure's
How do I make a booking?
All sports facility bookings, are administered at the Recreation reception desk, based within the Nancy Astor Sports Centre. Casual Sports Hall bookings, may be made up to a maximum of 14 days in advance. Bookings may be made in person or over the telephone, by calling the Nancy Astor Sports Centre reception desk on Tel (5)88510
How can I pay?
We accept credit and debit cards, as well as cash and cheques. Payment for all bookings is to be made in advance of playing.
Can I make an advanced booking outside of the 14 day booking period?
It is possible to make an advanced booking for a one off or large event. Please contact Dave Furniss on Tel:(5)88515 for a booking form.
How do I become a member?
To become a member of the Sports Centre, you need to complete an application form for a recreation card. You will need a passport size photograph as well as your University card to join. Public members require two passport size photographs.
When is the centre open?
The Sports Centre is open during the following times during term:
Monday - Friday 7.30am - 10pm
Saturday - 7.30am - 6pm
Sunday - 9am - 10pm
Can I bring a guest along?
Non University staff or students, are allowed to come along and use the facilities. Non member rates to use the Fitness Suite are:
