    By rail

The rail station is just a few minutes' walk from the main campus at Plymouth. There is a regular train service from Plymouth to London Paddington which takes between three and three-and-a-half hours. There are other direct services from Plymouth to South Wales, the Midlands, the North of England and Scotland.  For rail enquiries, call 08457 484950 or visit http://www.nationalrail.co.uk

    By coach

There are regular coach services from most major cities to Plymouth. The coach service from Bretonside Bus Station in Plymouth to London Victoria goes via Exeter and takes just four-and-a-half hours.  For coach enquiries, call 08705 808080 or visit http://www.nationalexpress.com

    By car

Plymouth is easily reached by following the M5 motorway and then continuing on the A38 Expressway via Exeter. It's about a three-and-a-half-hour journey from London to Plymouth.

In keeping with the university's environmental commitment, the use of cars by students, other than students with disabilities, is actively discouraged. In line with good environmental practice, the university charges for car parking on campus.

Parking on campus is severely restricted, however, if visiting us, please ask your university contact to enquire regarding visitor parking, on your behalf.  Alternative parking can be found in the city centre. There are several car parks located within walking distance of the university.

A full list of car parks and their locations can be found on the Plymouth City Council website (www.plymouth.gov.uk).

The city centre also provides three park and ride facilities at George Junction (the largest capacity of the three), Milehouse and Coypool, running services Monday to Saturday.  Fares from £1.30 return.   For further information please visit the Park and Ride section of the Plymouth City Council website.

    By bicycle

Travelling to the university by train + bicycle is feasible - Plymouth Station is close to the campus, but check on train regulations. Cycling all the way is more ambitious, but Plymouth lies on two National Cycling Routes. NCN27 crosses Devon to Ilfracombe on mainly traffic-free routes and Devon sections of the English south coast route NCN2, are being developed.  Cycling along the A38 is not recommended.

The University of Plymouth Centre for Sustainable Futures and Centre for Sustainable Transport both promote green travel and the Bicycle User Group represents staff who cycle to the campus. Cycle parking facilities are available across the university campus and shown on a map on the BUG link above. Detailed information on cycle routes is available, together with useful maps, from the Cycling section of the Plymouth City Council website and from Sustrans.
