Research support within the university
The Research & Enterprise (R&E) division plays a pivotal role in the management and promotion of research across the institution. R&E interfaces with key external organisations (HEFCE, the Research Councils, charitable foundations and trusts, and the European Commission) and supports the University research community. The University of Plymouth is a member of the Great Western Research Initiative which is linked along with other organisations in our external links and funding bodies page.
Staff support
The Research Development and Support, Entrepreneurship and Project Finance teams within R&E provide information, advice and assistance to staff concerning research and all related matters. This includes:
Research Development and Support
- Assistance to individual research staff with locating suitable funding for their ideas, having access to research funding publications and information
- Advice on the Universitys' policies and procedures for research
- Website development and support in conjunction with the Web Team
- Advice and support on European Framework programmes
Entrepreneurship Support
- Advice on intellectual property issues
- Spin-out company support and guidance
Project Finance
- Assistance to research staff withthe use of electronic applications for Research Council funding
- Assistance with detailed costings and obtaining the necessary internal approval for funding applications
