Creative practice & artistic projects
My background is in furniture design and I began my design career working for five years as an in house furniture designer for Antocks Lairn in High Wycombe.
Since then I have provided a freelance design consultancy service designing mass produced products.
In more recent years I have considerably changed direction and currently practice as a designer/maker trading as Whittle Design.
I work mainly in steel and bronze producing a range of one off and batch produced objects, often in collaboration with my wife Natalie.
Particular interests include the combination of industrial processes such as laser cutting and press forming drawn from my experience as a designer in industry with a variety of hand finishing, forming, texturing and colouring techniques developed through research and experimentation in my workshop.
