Role

To provide subject support, liaison and skills training.

To liaise with colleagues in Content and Development Team in regard to developing services, ordering and managing content, and Inter Library Loans, Offprints and Exam Papers.

To provide advice, guidance and training to all staff and students on Copyright

 

Qualifications & background

BA(Hons) Librarianship Leeds Polytechnic 1982

MCLIP (formerly ALA) 1986

Previously worked in the NHS in Newport, Gwent 1984-1995 and Rochdale, Lancashire 1995-2004

Special interest area - the laws that impact on information and information sharing, including Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Copyright. The concept of Information Governance.

Member of NHS Libraries Adviser's Copyright Advisory Group from 2001-2004

Member of the Chartered Institute of Information Professionals (and its forebear The Library Association since 1981)

Chartered Member since 1986

 

Roles on external bodies
A member of the Forum for InterLending Committee (May 2006 - )
Current role: Chair
This committee overseas and manages the activity of the Forum for InterLending (FIL) including organising meetings, training events and conferences and overseeing the publication of a newsletter.  FIL represents the interests of the UK document supply community at national and international level, and provides a forum for the cross-sector exchange of views and experiences.  www.cilip.org.uk/groups/fil/

A member of the Voyager ILL Enhancement Committee (August 2004 - July 2007)
This committee of 4 received all requests from world-wide users of Endeavor's Voyager InterLibrary Loans software package (CLIO) for product enhancements/improvements.  Requests were reviewed, prioritised and submitted annually for consideration for inclusion in future releases.
