Part of the French New Wave film series

The mood of paranoia and uncertainty of the Cold War period surrounds this thriller. The story follows Anne, a student in Paris, who gets sucked into a puzzling mystery surrounding Gerard, who is struggling to produce a play and whose fate appears to be entwined with that of his friend; a Spanish activist who we discover has committed suicide, or has he?
